PRACTICUM PROJECTS

Scott Library, York University, Toronto, Ontario   (April 2012—July 2012)
  • Managed and catalogued the Public Knowledge Project’s Open Journal System’s online video collection
  • Spearheaded a records management project that reconceptualized the organization of PKP’s Community Documentation, and created prototype of proposed design to demonstrate to PKP publishers 
  • Developed a customized metadata application profile for enhanced searchability and retrievability of PKP’s digital assets

Toronto Reference Library (Performing Arts and Languages), Toronto, Ontario   (April 2011—May 2011)
  •  Conducted reference interviews and located requested resources at the Audio/Visual information desk; informed patrons about the policies and conditions for material use
  • Completed a special classical music acquisitions project involving researching new materials to purchase from multiple vendors; used Symphony to check in new materials, verified that inputted metadata was correct

Information Centre, Victoria Park Collegiate, Toronto, Ontario   (February 2011—March 2011)
  • Searched Horizon’s Cataloguing Module for records to copy catalogue; assigned barcodes and linked records to new items purchased, and processed new materials for circulation
  • Spearheaded a collection development project that involved evaluating the current young adult and English literature collection, deselecting items, and making recommendations for purchase
  • Prepared materials for Poetry in Voice recitation contest and participated as both a prompter and French language judge

Information Centre, CSA International, Toronto, Ontario   (October 2010—November 2010)
  •  Created Codes pathfinder for accessing provincial and federal legislation using InMagic (DB/TextBase) and presented demonstration on its use to CSA executives
  • Uploaded and massaged content from the IHS Standards Expert Database for derivative cataloguing purposes
  •  Updated records, processed materials, and maintained and managed the CSA Standards collection
